Amsterdam has a total of 165 canals with a combined length of 75 kilometers and about 2000 bridges.

In the Golden Age between 1600 and 1700 there was enormous wealth and prosperity in Amsterdam. Merchants and bankers were among the wealthiest in the city and had the most beautiful houses with impressive facades built along the new canals. The seventeenth-century canal belt of Amsterdam is even on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The most expensive houses are located along the Herengracht culminating in the so-called Gouden Bocht where the wealthiest bought double lots.
During this tour you will see the most beautiful and famous canal houses including the Bartolotti house and the Anne Frank house and you will see the official residence of the mayor of Amsterdam. After the tour you will know the difference between a neck gable and a frame gable.
