This was once a real working-class neighborhood in Amsterdam. De Pijp is now a multicultural neighborhood with many cafes and restaurants. The guide will take you to the bustling Albert Cuyp market, among other places.
This market is the busiest in the Netherlands and is said to be the largest daytime market in Europe. It is a major tourist attraction.
In the second half of the 19th century, urban expansion was necessary because of the population explosion and De Pijp is now regarded as an example of 19th-century cheap revolution construction.
But the De Pijp is more: you can see the beautiful Sarphatipark and the beautiful Amsterdam School architecture of the De Dageraad residential complex.
