Rembrandt van Rijn was born in Leiden in 1606 and moved to Amsterdam in 1631 where his great fame began. Rembrandt lived and worked in the building that now houses the Rembrandt House Museum.
As the most famous Dutch master, Rembrandt made an indelible impression on Dutch art history.
During his career, Rembrandt made about 300 works, but this exact number is still the subject of speculation. His subjects range from portraits to landscapes and from historical scenes to the Bible. There is also a lot of attention for the Golden Age, a period of great prosperity and wealth in Amsterdam. How did people live in those days, what was eaten and how did they dress?
The guide will take you to the places where Rembrandt's most famous paintings, such as the Anatomy Lesson, the Steel Masters and the Night Watch, were created. A visit to the Rembrandt House is one of the possibilities. Entrance to the museum (€17.50) is not included in the price of this tour.
