Hildo Krop was born in 1884 as a baker's son and he was destined to take over his father's pastry shop.
However, he chose to become an artist. In 1956 he was awarded the honorary title City Sculptor of Amsterdam. His work adorns many bridges and buildings in the city.
It is fascinating that this artist from Steenwijk in Overijssel left more than 400 sculptures on buildings and bridges in Amsterdam, while most people are unaware of this. With these sculptures he still partly determines the cityscape of Amsterdam and contributes to Amsterdam's cultural heritage with his sculptures.
During this tour of Amsterdam South, the guide will take you to his most beautiful and best-known works.
