Cultural-historical private tours in Amsterdam

There are no guided tours from 16 May to 31 July 2026

What makes Historisch Amsterdam special?

Are you reluctant to join a group of strangers with different interests on your guided tour?

Are you missing out the extra attention for the very subject you wanted to know more about?

Historisch Amsterdam is a small-scale organization, specialized in cultural-historical private tours in Amsterdam.

This small scale makes us very flexible, meaning the tour can always be adapted to your own specific wishes and interests.

With us you search in vain for a pub crawl or a Red Light District tour. We do however offer you a number of exclusive tours that you will not find with other providers.

In terms of content, the emphasis during your tour is always on art, culture and history. Supported by many photos and images, we revive the history of Amsterdam.

Your private guide will take you on a fascinating journey through time…

“Driven by love for the city”

Stan Wentholt (guided tour 'Old City Centre’)

*****

“Last weekend we took the 'Old Ciy Centre’ tour with a group of 3.
It exceeded all our expectations. The knowledge Edward has gained about the city is very detailed, and the photos ensure that his stories really come to life. The enthusiasm radiates, making the 3 hours fly by. This is the best city tour in Amsterdam!“

The most chosen tours...

The Paleis voor Volksvlijt (1864) was located on Frederiksplein in Amsterdam and the design by architect Cornelis Outshoorn was inspired by the Crystal Palace in London.
The impressive building with a dome of 64 meters high burned to the ground on the night of 17/18 April 1929 and was never rebuilt.
